Happy International Women's Day!

The theme of International Women's Day this year focuses on breaking the bias and combatting inequalities that women face.

International Women's Day is a global day dedicated to celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

The theme of International Women's Day this year focuses on breaking the bias and combatting inequalities that women face. This is something we focused on in our Women in Leadership summer camp last year - check out the following blog post that some of our students put together:

Look out for bright posters advertising our protest! One of the best ways to
campaign is through protesting, as it will attract attention to the cause on the news so that the whole world can see. Then we can have way more women and men who are being paid equally. Women who live alone with a job might struggle with paying for food and a house, so that’s why we should protest. These women should be able to live by themselves and be able to support themselves with a job and not have to worry about money.

We will also create a speech and spread it on social media to make sure men, women and others all around the world can hear it! Alexandria Ocasio - Cortez will deliver our speech as she is a great role model for women and equal rights.

This is important as in 2021, women make only $0.82 for every dollar a man makes, which is only one cent more than they made in 2020.

This is important because the global generation gap will take an extra 36 years to close after the global Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, the World Economic Forum predicts it will now take 135.6 years for gender inequality problems to be solved.

This is important as demonstrated by the 1963 law in the United States, which made it illegal for women to be paid less than men on jobs requiring the same skill, effort and responsibility. However, there are women who are still paid less.

Now it's your turn! Why not try this out as a Dinner Table Debate?
